Anwar Doubles Down On JS-SEZ

The government will continue to support efforts to ensure infrastructure and facilities remain at the highest standards to strengthen investor confidence and drive the overall success of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said the Johor State Government also presented key development projects that are high priorities, including raw water supply issues, access systems at the Sultan Iskandar CIQ Complex and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex, the operational readiness of Pasir Gudang Hospital, land affairs and several pre-implementation projects currently in the planning phase.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said these efforts must be implemented with a prudent approach and out-of-the-box thinking, so that savings can be redirected to more urgent needs, particularly in public healthcare and education.

“This includes the safety and health of the people in the implementation of projects involving the procurement of equipment and services,” he said.

The Prime Minister, who arrived in Johor earlier today, said he attended several key meetings beginning with the Special Meeting on Johor State Development in Kota Iskandar with Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and federal and state leaders.

“In the meeting, I reaffirmed our commitment to efficient and transparent governance, especially in terms of management, finance and administration,” said Anwar.

In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed his appreciation for the briefing from Onn Hafiz on the progress of foreign investment, particularly in the JS-SEZ.

“Alhamdulillah, this initiative between the two countries has successfully garnered strong interest and confidence among investors to invest in Johor,” he said.
